Former Jharkhand CM Champai Soren Joins BJP, Cites Discontent with JMM Leadership
Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren, key figure in the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), joined the BJP in Ranchi, accompanied by a large number of supporters. Soren, known as the “Jharkhand Tiger” for his role in the state’s formation, resigned as an MLA and state minister just two days prior, citing discontent with the JMM’s current policies and leadership.
In a letter to JMM Chief Shibu Soren, he expressed his pain over leaving the party he considered family but emphasized that joining the BJP was in Jharkhand’s best interest, particularly regarding issues like Bangladeshi infiltration. His move was confirmed by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
